1. Commitment and target level
The Depot aims at level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2 (WCAG 2.2 AA), and the European standard EN 301 549. The goal is a site usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier and on a phone, without losing information.
Directive (EU) 2019/882 on accessibility requirements, the European Accessibility Act, has applied to online commerce services since 28 June 2025. Micro-enterprises providing services are exempt; we apply level AA without waiting to be required to.
2. What has been done
- Contrasts checked against the charter pairs: Encre on Couché 12.5:1, Couché on Sceau 7.5:1, Encre on Carton gris 10.2:1.
- Full keyboard navigation, with a skip link to the main content and a visible 2 px focus.
- Touch targets of at least 44 px and form fields 44 px high.
- Labels tied to fields, help below the field, errors explained in text and not by colour alone.
- Page language declared in the code, hierarchical headings, links that are clear out of context.
- Useful alternative text on content images, decorative images marked as such.
- Motion respects the system reduced-motion preference.
- Text can be enlarged to 200 % and displayed at 320 px wide without horizontal scrolling.
- No flashing content, no autoplay, no imposed reading time.
3. What remains to be done
- An external WCAG 2.2 AA audit, scheduled for 2027, with a public report.
- Accessibility of the PDF catalogues: the HTML versions remain the reference and take priority.
- Video subtitles, if videos are published: none is online today.
- Tests with people with disabilities, especially on the forms and the Pro portal.
- Continuous improvement of error messages and correction suggestions.
4. Known limitations
Some older PDF catalogues and supplier documents are not fully tagged. They remain available for information, but every reference has an accessible, up-to-date HTML page.
Third-party tools in the Pro portal, especially the invoicing module, follow their own accessibility roadmap. We report the barriers we find and offer an alternative by email or phone.
5. Reporting a barrier
If a page, form or document prevents you from finding information or ordering, email info@thedepot.be or call +32 (0)11 18 24 18 describing the page and what blocks you. You can also ask for the content to be sent through another channel.
We reply within 5 working days, with an immediate workaround and a correction deadline. If the answer does not satisfy you, you may contact the supervisory body designated by Belgium for service accessibility, and the Data Protection Authority for personal data aspects.
6. Evaluation and monitoring
This statement is based on an internal self-assessment carried out in November 2026: keyboard tests, reading with NVDA and VoiceOver, contrast measurements, checks at 200 % zoom and on a 320 px screen.
A review is published every year on this page. Next external evaluation: 2027. Version of 5 November 2026.
